CIVITAS Initiative (“City-Vitality-Sustainability” or “Cleaner and Better Transport in Cities”)
The project was launched in 2002 and its main objective was to support cities to introduce ambitious transport and policies for sustainable urban mobility.
The Project CIVITAS ELAN “Mobilising citizens for vital cities” involved the cities of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Ghent (Belgium), Zagreb (Croatia), Brno (Czech Republic) and Porto (Portugal).
As part of CIVITAS EU, the project had an ELAN approach where the working motto in the five cities was “Putting the citizen first.”
ELAN had highly experienced partners, many of them were involved in the first two phases of the CIVITAS Initiative.
University Fernando Pessoa participated in the project CIVITAS ELAN from September 2008 to September 2012.
